Real estate groupto fund water body clean-up

KOLKATA: A leading real estate consortium has stepped forward to fund the clean-up of Bank Plot jheel, a waterbody that was under threat of land sharks in Saheednagar area off the Prince Anwar Shah connector to the Bypass.

Earlier, green action group Naturemates that had cleaned up two water bodies one at Bikramgarh in south Kolkata and the other at Santragachi in Howrah had stepped forward to help residents of Sahid Nagar in their bid to save the water body in their attempt to save it from land sharks.

Their effort came after reading a TOI report on March 10. The residents had formed a vigilante group to ward off land sharks...
